Zain gives mobile customers free content-sharing service

Zain has launched a new service it calls ‘From You to You’ which allows mobile customers to share their video and audio clips, pictures and SMS messages for free.

The service is being provided in co-operation with Jordanian mobile service solutions provider Beecell.

Anyone using Zain’s mobile service can upload their content to www.turmos.com, an internet portal accessible via SMS, MMS, WAP or the web. Additionally, subscribers can browse uploaded files and vote on their favourite content.

Customers can also subscribe to a dedicated channel which makes select content such as videos, jokes and poetry available for download by sending the number 1 in an SMS message to 92022.

CEO of Beecell, Bashar Hantouli said: “User-Generated Content has become very popular in the past couple of years… This service allows Zain's subscribers to share content using their mobiles as well as the Web and is in line with our ongoing aim to provide innovative services to mobile users.”

Al Masri, Zain’s Senior Data Management Consultant, added: “This service embodies the importance of mobile phones and their role which is no longer only restricted to telephone conversation, but extends it to include entertainment and information related services.”
