Jazeera Airways 27-cent flight costs $154

by Rob Corder on Tuesday, 04 March 2008
HIDDEN CHARGES: Jazeera's adverts for 'onebelievable' flights conceal tax and fuel charges.

Jazeera Airways is advertising prices for a range of flights of just one Kuwaiti dinar ($3.67) from its Kuwait City hub and one UAE dirham (27 cents) from its Dubai hub in a promotional sale that ends on Wednesday.

The "onebelievable" sale offers flights to Bahrain, Beirut, Kuwait, the Maldives and Delhi.

However, customers attempting to book the special offer flights will be disappointed when final prices including tax and fuel surcharges are presented.

Arabianbusiness.com found a 1 dinar return flight from Kuwait to Dubai that cost 25 dinars ($91.8) once taxes and surcharges were added.

A 1 dirham flight from Dubai to Beirut was even worse, costing a total of 565 dirhams ($153.8) after taxes and surcharges.

Jazeera 'onebelievable' offer

Anyone who has used budget airlines knows very well that the fares advertised do not include taxes.

But the problem with Jazeera is that amount paid and the amount charged to the credit card varies due to fluctuation in Kuwaiti dinar as it is not pegged to dollar.

So please check and be sure of what you are doing.

Its a great airline though, service and timing and excellent. I would love to fly again with them
I got a great deal, you have to act quick

I got an excellent deal! I got one dirham both ways + taxes to Maldives and I got KD 1 to Dubai from Kuwait. Now compare that to Emirates or Qatar!!

There is a catch, and that is you have to act quickly before the promo seats sell out and you have to be flexible with your dates when you search for flights.

Try getting the return flight for a similar price or even close to it.

I tried Dxb-Maldives. This one's a nice gimmick.
