Kempinski advocates central reservation system

Kempinski Hotels has revealed the secret to its distribution success: using a centralised reservation system.

Rex Demanser, vice president of revenue management and distribution for the international hotels group, commented: "This rapid expansion of the group makes for exciting times for us... Kempinski is already working with a number of large third party internet providers and will continue to further expand the group's distribution. Customers are changing their reservation habits and Kempinski is in an ideal position to take advantage of this".

Last year the hotel group launched a centralised reservations system on a Micros Fidelio platform, which was fully integrated with its hotel Property Management Systems.

This global system has enabled the hotel group to profit from rapid content, rates and availability to market, strengthening Kempinski's global distribution platform.

Kempinski uses Micros Fidelio in its capacity as a member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) - a group which enables the sharing of sales, marketing and distribution information between hotels.

GHA chief executive Christopher Hartley said: "[All the hotel companies in the group, including Kempinski, Dusit and Cham Group] have a common partner, Micros Fidelio. Micros are the leader in hospitality and technology in the industry and they are a fully-fledged partner of the alliance, and we all share their technology in common.

"What we're doing is we're building, using their technology and central reservations platform, also the ability to run a loyalty programme and effectively that means the movement of customers between our brands, not to mention the individual hotels, can be done seamlessly; they can be recognised across all members and we can effectively set up central booking, web sites and so on, which from a consumer point of view can be operated in a seamless way".

Demanser added: "I'm looking forward to driving increasing revenues and volume across our global network of hotels".
