The Marriott Business Council (MBC) for Dubai, made up of the general managers from JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, Renaissance Dubai Hotel, Marriott Executive Apartments and the Courtyard by Marriott, Green Community, have met up to recognise the winners of the group's 2008 Spirit to Serve calendar competition.
Featuring paintings and illustrations done by associates from Dubai's four Marriott properties, the calendar was based around the company's ‘Spirit to Serve' motto, incorporating themes of housing and hunger, child education and providing opportunities in the workplace.
The calendar was distributed among all Marriott hotels in Dubai as well as to the hotel's top clients, guests, family and friends to generate awareness of the issues covered.
Another social success for Marriott was the group's fourth annual Sprit to Serve golf tournament.
Francisco Giles, chairman of the MBA, recently paid a visit to the children of the Al Noor Center along with Sanne Emborg, general manager of the Marriott Executive Apartments and Elaine Watson, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott, to present a cheque of AED 40,200.
Giles commented: "Involvement in community projects is crucial to our yearly game plan. Events like this enable us to not only support the cause, but also to give back to the community through the Marriott ‘Spirit to Serve' culture that lives within all our associates".
