Advent looked to raise its profile at CABSAT, ahead of parent company Vislink's new regional sales office opening in Dubai next month.
Advent has a large base of established customers in the Middle East, including Jordan Media City, where it was responsible for installing the earth stations. "The Middle East has a vibrant broadcast industry, with Dubai as its hub. We are building on the relationships we already have with Middle Eastern customers and spoke to broadcasters about new solutions for modern OB and communications," said Ian Scott-Gall, CEO Vislink.
Regional broadcasters have purchased Advent's lightweight flyaways in large numbers and the company's small Mantis satellite dish has become a best-seller in the Middle East.
Advent demonstrated its FlyDrive antenna at CABSAT for the first time this year and displayed it along with the new, compact 5000 series electronics package. "The FlyDrive has proved popular in markets around the world for its high level of flexibility," said Mather Al-Ali, MEA sales manager for Vislink's broadcast division. "The FlyDrive, once rigged, can be installed on the roof of any regular car.
This means a news team can transmit from multiple locations without having to repeatedly pack away and re-rig the system. Typically, FlyDrive customers are looking for the greater mobility that a flyaway provides. This technology has to come at a premium price but people are prepared to invest for the extra flexibility that it affords them.
The FlyDrive offers full three axis motorised control with manual backup, satellite auto acquisition and tracking. It fits into two International Air Transport Association (IATA) compliant flight cases enabling individuals to quickly deploy the technology regardless of where they are in the world.
