BA adds to cargo network in India

BRITISH AIRWAYS WORLD CARGO: Adds five destinations.

British Airways World Cargo has announced plans to commence direct flights between London Heathrow and Hyderabad from October 2008.

The carrier will operate five flights a week using wide bodied Boeing 777s, which will increase its capacity to and from the region by 2500 tonnes each year.

These new services complement our long haul freighter network and demonstrate our commitment to providing customers with access to strategic global markets," said Matt Burton, area manager for India and Nepal, British Airways World Cargo.

Hyderabad is an increasingly important station, primarily due to the rapid increase in pharmaceutical and IT manufacture in the region," he added.

British Airways World Cargo has operated in India for over 75 years and currently offers 43 line flights and ten freighter services per week from London Heathrow to five Indian cities. This includes a double daily service from Mumbai and Dehli, a daily service to Bangalore, a five flights a week service from Chennai and a three flights a week service from Kolkata.

The new flights will enable our customers to take advantage of British Airways World Cargo's premium services to ensure swift and efficient delivery of commodities across our unrivalled global network," stated Burton.
