Cisco has announced extensive expansion plans within Jordan, an investment which should aid the Kingdom’s already impressive economic growth.
The planned expansion will double the number of Cisco employees currently in Jordan, and has begun with the creation of a new position, General Manager for Jordan and Palestine. The role was filled by Ashraf Arafeh, previously an eBusiness Solutions Project Manager in Kuwait.
Following his acceptance of the position, Arafeh said: “Jordan offers all the right ingredients for a successful ICT industry, such as skilled labour and a robust technology infrastructure.”
Other indications of Cisco’s commitment to Jordan include considerable investment into educational programs, such as the company’s Global Talent Acceleration Program and the Jordan Education Initiative.
The Acceleration Program is aimed at training network consulting engineers in emerging markets. The Jordan Education Initiative is an ambitious project aimed at providing teachers and students with educational innovations via the effective use of ICT.
Fadi Moubarak, General Manager of Cisco Levant said: “The vision of the country's leadership has allowed it to transition quickly to a 'connected' world. Jordan continues to reap the benefits of technology and offer the most innovative services to its citizens.”
