Storage vendor Sun Microsystems has moved to answer what it describes as increasing customer demand in Qatar by signing integrator Advanced Business Consulting (ABC) as a local channel partner.

ABC, a stakeholder and affiliate of Mideast Data Systems is a recent entrant to the Middle East channel and as a start-up will be focusing on selling and implementing Sun's UNIX servers, storage and software solutions and associated services.

Despite its relatively recent inception to the Qatari marketplace, ABC says it is able to answer the needs of the country's enterprise sector and leverage the experience of MDS, supposedly the largest IT group in the Middle East.

"Although ABC is a newcomer to the channel playground, we have profound experience in various verticals and have proved that we are a major player in the local market," asserted ABC's general manager Chadi Debs. "We have a number of customer wins on an enterprise level to leverage our position to be a Sun partner in a market of importance. Our extensive reach coupled with unmatched professional expertise will certainly play to Sun's advantage."

Sun is confident in its new partner's capacity to offer the level of value add and sales dedication that a sophisticated market such as Qatar demands. "ABC/MDS possesses the know-how of Qatar's IT market and is familiar with customer requirements," claimed Marc Heger, Gulf district manager at Sun MENA. "Besides, ABC/MDS has always been regarded by both vendors and clients as one of the few choices when looking at business critical solutions and services," he added.

"ABC/MDS is also a reputed total enterprise solution provider with long years of successful track record that would help Sun leverage its solutions in sectors such as oil and gas, education, government and healthcare. This reach and exposure will uncover lucrative opportunities for Sun," concluded Heger.
