Almari Company won Best Marketing Strategy and Best Cold Drink.

The Retail News Middle East Awards 2008, held on February 25, recognised the innovation and customer service excellence of several of the region's biggest food and beverage suppliers.

With 10 product award categories, ranging from Best Cold Drink of the Year and Best Hot Drink of the Year to Best Frozen Foods of the Year and Best Dried Product of the Year, as well as five business awards recognising outstanding achievement in the fields such as food production, distribution, marketing strategies and innovation the evening served as a valuable networking platform for industry professionals, according to Lynne Nolan, editor of Caterer's sister publication, Retail News Middle East.

"[The] awards power creativity and serve as the ideal way to instantly re-energise business; raise a company's profile, and encourage best practice," she explained.

According to product group manager-juices/beverages for Almari Company, which clinched prizes for Best Marketing Strategy and Best Cold Drink on the night, the awards are a source of pride.

"It comes as great news to Almari to win these highly contended and prestigious awards and it reflects a solid year's performance in the marketplace," he confirmed.

"This reward holds great importance as it is coming from a specialised, reliable organisation," added winner of the award for Best Dairy Product Al Safi Danone's country manager-UAE Waseem Halabi.

Federal Foods' vice chairman and managing director Adel Al Nowais said the company's focus on improving internal operating procedures had led to its recognition as Best Distributor.

The Dubai-based company had increased its warehousing facilities and distribution fleet and upgraded its information technology systems during the last 12 months explained Al Nowais. He also paid tribute to the Federal Foods team: "Our employees are our greatest assets and are trained, guided, motivated and offered optimum opportunities to build their careers," he said, adding, "I'm sure Federal Foods will add on more accolades in various categories in the years to come."
