The inaugural Sound & Stage Awards, which will be staged at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel in Dubai on April 29, will honour the efforts of those individuals and organisations that are playing an instrumental role in steering the growth of the professional audio, lighting, AV integration and live events production industries in the Middle East region.

It will also recognise professional and technical excellence demonstrated by these key players across various industry subsectors, from lighting and live sound design and production to events promotion and marketing.

The awards mark our commitment to fostering the ongoing development of the industry across the region, and to recognise in part the efforts of you, our readers, in your professional and commercial endeavours.

The awards programme boasts an extensive number of categories honouring excellence in various industry fields.

Systems integrators, manufacturers, promoters, production rental companies and event management firms will be among those recognised, as will individuals who have managed to set new standards of excellence within the live events production sector.

As the Middle East's number one entertainment technology and production industry magazine, it is our distinct honour to showcase the best talent this industry has to offer.

The success of the awards does, however, hinge on your participation.

I invite you to visit the dedicated Sound & Stage Awards website, located at www.itp.net/events/sasawards, to peruse the various categories and to see which category fits best with your own professional interests or endeavours.

Interested parties can even nominate themselves in the case of individual awards or their businesses across the general awards categories.

Further details regarding the various categories, as well as nomination guidelines, can be found on the website.

I look forward to receiving your nominations and meeting you there on the night!

Meanwhile, to celebrate our involvement at this month's PALME exhibition in Dubai, we're publishing a special preview of the show in this issue, which also marks the largest edition of the magazine to date.

Sound & Stage has moved from strength to strength over the past 12 months, and a great deal of its success is down to the ongoing support and enthusiasm of you, our readers.

The ever-smiling S&S crew will be located on the Sound & Stage ‘superstand' to handle all your enquiries during PALME, if you feel the urge to drop by. As always, we welcome and appreciate your input.
