PATA launches Asia Pacific training day for Gulf corporates

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Thursday, 03 April 2008
PATA’s training event will take place at the new InterContinental Dubai Festival City.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Qatar Airways are joining forces to stage a training event to raise awareness for the opportunities for meetings planners in Asia Pacific.

The partners will soon be sending out invitations to meeting planners and conference organisers across the region inviting them to the event, which will be staged at the InterContinental Hotel Dubai Festival City on June 15.

The initiative is being organised in conjunction with PATA's GCC representation company, Fusion Marketing.

Fusion Marketing executive director and PATA's regional director, Nicki Page, said the PATA event was being staged to raise awareness of the opportunities available to planners thinking of holding events in Asia Pacific.

"PATA's objectives in the region are the facilitation of business to from and within Asia Pacific and this event gives a great platform to talk with the industry to better support their understanding of what's new in Asia Pacific for decision makers responsible for booking meetings and conferences," she added.

Organisers are currently lining up a dynamic keynote speaker to kick off the event, while Qatar Airways, IHG and a line-up of national tourism boards from Asia Pacific will give presentations aimed at showcasing the products and services available to planners.

The training day is also supported by the Business Travel Show Dubai, which aims to "help facilitate further discussion about the importance of business travel to and from the Middle East into Asia Pacific," according to event director at UK-based Centaur Exhibitions, Sally Maltby.
