Ducab turnover up 50% in 2007

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Saturday, 05 April 2008
Expansions have helped raise Ducab sales.

Cable manufacturer Ducab has announced record turnover results for 2007. The firm recorded sales of US $299.5 million (AED1.1 billion) for the first six months of the year; its year ended with sales of $653 million, an increase in excess of 50% compared to 2006.

The increased sales have been attributed to the firm's recent expansions of its Abu Dhabi and Dubai-based factories and its focus on serving customer needs. Ducab managing director Andrew Shaw commented: "These results demonstrate Ducab's strong presence in the increasingly competitive GCC market and its commitment to progress and technological improvements.

"I am confident that we will continue to raise our performance and I am very optimistic that we will have another successful year ahead of us," he added.

Established in 1979, Ducab's product ranges include high, medium and low voltage cables as well as specialist products such as low smoke and zero fume halogen cables and control and auxiliary cabling. In January 2007 the firm announced it's biggest ever expansion plan at a cost of $180 million, a move that will double the firm's manufacturing capacity once it is complete.

• Ducab has been awarded the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) Chairman's Award for Outstanding Economic Value Creation in the Industrial Sector for adding value to Dubai's local and foreign investments and its contributions to the national economy.
