RTE forecasts GIBTM trends

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Sunday, 06 April 2008
Barnett urged meetings and incentive professionals to attend the GIBTM welcome party on April 8.

Second GIBTM Industry Research survey to build on meetings statistics and data.

With days to go before the second instalment of the Gulf Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings (GIBTM) exhibition gets underway, organiser Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) has shared some of its predictions.

Exhibition director Graeme Barnett was positive that the second GIBTM Industry Research survey would provide some interesting insights into the industry.

"GIBTM predicts that this year, the results will show many new trends which we hope will now begin to build statistics and information on the current and future net worth, plus opportunities for the meeting's industry throughout the Gulf and wider Middle East region," he told MIME.

Barnett urged all visitors to attend the launch of the results, which will be revealed on the first day of the show.

RTE has spent the last year undertaking a "massive" regional database marketing campaign to locate corporate buyers, planners and professionals involved in planning meetings from around the Middle East.

"So far all this work has resulted in our pre-registration being well ahead of last year and we are keeping our fingers crossed that all of them attend which means we will beat last year's numbers," he said.

Barnett said he hoped that exhibitors took advantage of all the business opportunities afforded by the show - from the pre-scheduled appointments system for hosted buyers to the networking events taking place throughout the three-day trade show.

"If every visitor and hosted buyer takes time to attend the free professional dducation programme, we can easily predict that they will leave GIBTM with a greatly enhanced and enriched knowledge of the sector in which they work," he said.

"I would be more than happy to hear the views of other meetings and incentives professionals from the region and invite them to attend the GIBTM welcome party on April 8 to debate what will be hot this year in the region.
