Abu Dhabi-based telecommunications company Warid Telecom International recently celebrated its expansion into the Republic of Congo with a major launch at the Stade de la Revolution in the country's capital, Brazzaville.
The event featured a major laser and light show coordinated by Dubai-based production company Gulf Arena, in conjunction with equipment suppliers SLS Productions and A&O Germany.
Lighting designer Pawel 'Spider' Pajak employed a raft of technology from German company MA Lighting during the showcase production, including two grandMA full-size lighting control consoles and a MA NSP desk managed by grandMA onPC software.
"We had to coordinate various aspects of the show including official speeches, band and drummer appearances and a multimedia presentation," said Pajak. "We employed both full-size grandMAs in multiuser mode to establish the respective presets for the various groups of fixtures.
"Throughout the show the main desk provided control for the full lighting system. The second console was used for backup purposes, as well as providing lighting cues for the percussion presentation. Both MA systems proved extremely stable and reliable through the course of the presentation."
In terms of lighting fixtures and staging equipment, the production partners utilised two curved trusses fitted with Alpha Spot 1200 HPE and Alfa Wash 1200 fixtures to provide textures in conjunction with a circular projection screen.
"We also used Falcon 7kW fixtures to create rays of light," explains Pajak.
"The combination of the various visual elements created the illusion of a rising sun looming behind the main stage during the show. The remainder of the lighting kit was used to generate various effects inside the venue."
