Knowledge Economic City (KEC) and Wipro have signed a memorandum of understanding, to co-operate on IT related R&D at the Al-Madinah-based development.

The MOU, which was signed by Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Mohammed Al-Issa, chairman of KEC, and Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, includes the co-development of an IT research facility and the establishment of a Wipro Academy to deliver IT training for KEC.

Sheikh Al-Issa commented: "Wipro are one of the largest IT service providers in the world. They bring with them decades of experience and a work force large enough to provide a full support system to KEC. We will be working together in areas of research and development, as well as establishing a joint education institute for the training of IT professionals."
