Harris has been awarded a fourth project from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture & Information (MOCI) to upgrade Saudi TV's facility in Dammam. The new facility consists of two HD studio control rooms for news and production, serving all Saudi TV channels in Dammam. The project marks the first Middle East application of the Harris Intrinsic Mirroring SAN-based fault tolerance technology, the latest advance in NEXIO server storage protection.
"Once again, the Harris approach of providing integrated HD workflow solutions will provide the best application for our newest HD facilities in Dammam," commented Dr. Riyadh Najm, deputy minister of Engineering, MOCI. "The company's Intrinsic Mirroring architecture provides an added layer of redundancy for data survivability and on-air availability, as it simultaneously mirrors content to two NEXIO storage area networks (SANs) during ingest. This eliminates the need to copy content from one SAN to another or to replicate data as a background function, providing Saudi TV with considerable cost efficiencies."
At the heart of the HD control room will be a fully interoperable Harris broadcast system comprising multiple NEXIO video servers, Platinum routers and Videotek TVM-950 multiformat HD/SD-SDI signal analysers, as well as CENTRIO multiviewers and NEO and 6800+ modular series frame synchronisers and converters. This sale also includes a significant number of Velocity NX full-featured HD promotions craft editors and Inscriber RTX and Inscriber G3 graphics solutions.
