Masafi sales head even higher

by Lynne Nolan on Monday, 21 April 2008

UAE-based manufacturer Masafi has registered net revenues of AED 73 million during the first quarter of 2008, an increase of 35% compared to the Q1 of last year.

The impressive figures have been attributed to the launch of its 100% recyclable, four-gallon water bottles.

Over the past two years Masafi doubled its revenue with the addition of new product lines including juices and flavoured water.

Masafi CEO Ashraf Abushady said: "Q1 marks the continuation of a successful growth spurt commenced in 2005 through diversification and investment. The impressive results were generated from across all categories. Masafi Tissues recorded a 55% sales volume growth, along with Water and Juices that grew at 20% and 15% respectively."

"Flavoured Water has garnered 83% segment share in the non-carbonated flavoured water segment within 12 months of its launch and is growing at 9% compared to last year."

The company has "consolidated our market leadership, thanks to world class offerings, driven sales efforts and innovative communications campaign."

Masafi has also announced plans for its bottling recycling campaign. The company, currently the only bottler to have a dedicated facility to recycle PET bottles, plans to aggressively focus on the drive this year.

As part of the initiative, dedicated recycling stations have been installed at participating schools in a bid to encourage the concept of recycling among children and parents. The recycling stations have been placed next to Masafi vending dispensers.

Masafi's personnel empty the dispensers regularly, before the bottles are transferred to Masafi's unique plastic reprocessing facilities. The pre-processed plastic is then sold to ISO-certified, Municipality-approved dealers for non-food recycled plastic applications and industries.

Masafi has also installed seven dispensers near centrally located community centres across the UAE.

I wanted to get in touch with Masafi team who could start a new water line for weight conscious people. With their expert team they can lab test and determine essential Sodium & Chloride levels and maintain necessary minerals but at the same time produce a healthy drink where people who gym & are on diet can drink water without worrying about calories. hena.mukhtar@gmail.com
