Dell launch new, redesigned Vostro in EMEA

by Quintin Smith on Monday, 21 April 2008

Feedback from small business customers has brought a redesign to Dell’s range of Vostro laptops, and as of today the new models are available across the region.

The new Vostro 13.3 inch 1310 and the 15.4 inch 1510 will be available in all Middle Eastern countries for $699 and $799, respectively.

Dell will be offering a redesigned 1710 laptop in mid May.

The redesign’s most obvious change is to make the laptops thinner and lighter. The 1310’s redesign means it has 94% of the viewing area of the previous model, yet weighs 20% less.

The new laptops also feature more preloaded security software, as well as the option to remove any unwanted software or trialware and partition the hard drive before purchase.

Sameh El Deeb, Client PC Product Manager of Dell Middle East said: “Listening to customers and acting quickly on their feedback to improve our products and services sets Dell apart. For example, customers told us in a recent global laptop study that data protection and pre-installed security software are, by far, the most important security features.

"They also said they wanted thinner and lighter machines, all at a good price,” Sameh El Deeb said. “We paid attention.”

I NEED TO REGISTER MY DELL COMPUTER!
Posted by Naz Hussain on 23 April 2008 at 10:36 UAE time

Thank you for responding, Dell M.E.

However, you've missed the point of my post. I do not (yet!) have a problem with my computer. All I was trying to do was simply register my recent purchase, to make life easier in the future should something go wrong! The website (UAE specific) does not work and returns an error message as I submit my registration details, and its been like that for 3 months now. when I tried sending you an email (as given by the error message) I got a bounce back.

Can you tell me how I can register my computer with you?

Thanks
Naz.

Is Dell dead in the UAE???
Posted by Naz Hussain on 21 April 2008 at 16:15 UAE time

What has happened to Dell's customer support service in the UAE??? It's non-existent! No answer from the telephone number, emails that bounce back and when I try to register my new purchase online, it gets rejected! Very frustrating!!! but moreso, extremely unprofessional and not to be expected from a powerhouse like Dell.

What do I do if something goes wrong with my machine?
