Creek chic

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Friday, 25 April 2008

The Intercontinental Hotel may be a long way from Dubai's beaches but it boasts a charm all of its own.

Standing proudly overlooking Dubai Creek, the new InterContinental Dubai Festival City boasts an enviable location.

Set far enough back from the chaos of Sheikh Zayed Road but close enough to appreciate its impressive skyline, the InterContinental seems to have got the balance exactly right.

The hotel is the latest InterContinental property to emerge in the region as part of the hotel group's rapidly growing presence in the Middle East.

The staff are very attentive, without being annoying, a rarity in Dubai.

But with this property InterContinental seems to be specifically targeting the business traveller.

The hotel is a mere ten minute drive from Dubai International Airport and not much further from the city's business and financial hub of Sheikh Zayed Road.

The hotel comprises of 498 stunningly designed rooms, including 121 suites, three Presidential Suites and one Royal Suite. The wide set wall-to-wall windows mean each corner of Dubai's ever-changing cityscape can be enjoyed from any position in the room.

In recognition of the business traveller's need for in-room technologies, every room and suite comes fully equipped with flat screen LCD televisions, each with CD, DVD and VCD players, high speed broadband internet access and a complimentary PowerPoint remote to ensure your business meeting goes smoothly.

The bathrooms in each room are a haven of relaxation with guests able to take advantage of the stand alone bath tub or spacious power shower.

The hotel initially launched with two restaurants open immediately. Anise is the first to greet you on the lobby floor; here you can watch expert chefs prepare international cuisine from live cooking stations before sampling their culinary delights from the vast buffet.

Vista Lounge and Bar takes up the hotel's entire 17th floor, framing unrivalled views of all of Dubai.
