Empa has been named as a regional distributor by SMC in what the networking products provider terms as a move to capitalise on the Middle East’s rising internet usage.

Jamshed Mehdi, managing director of SMC Networks, explains that the distributor was first choice thanks to its track record of working with other vendors in the networking field and what he describes as Empa’s in-depth knowledge of the regional market.

“With the number of internet users in the Middle East expected to cross the 25 million mark in 2008, we see tremendous potential in this market, making it vital for us to work with a trusted partner to distribute our comprehensive range of high performance networking solutions," concluded Mehdi.

Khan Shahood director of sales and marketing at Empa Middle East is confident Empa will allow SMC to make the most of what he describes as the surge in internet usage across the region, which has boosted the demand for broadband connectivity products, particularly in the small and home office segment of the market.

“As SMC looks to build its share in the high potential Middle East markets, we are committed to offering them our total support and expertise to help achieve their objectives,” he promised.

Empa recently completed the move to its new headquarters in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone following the destruction of its warehouse, also located in the Free Zone, in an accidental fire late last year.
