China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) has won a US $54.4 million (AED200 million) contract to carry out civil and infrastructure works at Al Murjan Real Estate's White Bay project in Umm Al Quwain.
Work is expected to take 14 months and will include all civil engineering and infrastructure works as well as the reclamation of the first island in the development and the construction of a bridge connecting the island with the mainland.
The project manager on the development is Emirates Sunland Group.
"We are delighted to have CHEC working with us on this prestigious development," said White Bay project manager Costas Alexandrou. "They have an excellent track record and we are confident that their industry standing and expertise will be invaluable in bringing this project to a successful conclusion."
White Bay will be made up of two man-made islands located on the shores of Umm Al-Quwain.
The development's 8,000 units are spread over a land area of 1.7 million m² and facilities include a 190-berth marina and canal. "The White Bay project is on-track," added Alexandrou.
"We are confident that our appointment of such a highly-respected company will ensure the project's continued progress and success."
