A website targeted at travellers in transit at Middle East airports has been launched.
www.timeintransit.com not only provides details of what travellers can do when transiting through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain and Sharjah airports, but has teamed up with booking.com to offer a online booking tool for flights, hotels and car rental.
Although still in its infancy, Time in Transit plans to post a forum, where travellers can exchange tips and travel experiences to pool knowledge so those in transit can learn how to maximise their travel time during stopovers.
"With so much of travel in the Gulf being in transit it seemed like a logical progression," said Time in Transit managing editor Alex Warren.
Key site features include detailed airport guides and city highlights for short stay travellers.
Warren is also looking to team up with local inbound travel agents and DMCs to offer tours for short-stay/stopover travellers.
"People forget that in transit your luggage is already processed so with stopovers of over five hours local tour operators could take people out and still get them back in plenty of time to get their connection," he said.
As well as being a useful tool for those in transit, the site also offered an excellent platform for the local travel trade to promote their services, Warren added.
