ADAOX Middle East has announced that the company’s ESET NOD32 Antivirus software has scooped up another award from Virus Bulletin, bringing the software’s total to 49 awards since Virus Bulletin introduced the awards in 1998.

The VB100 award is based on two criteria. Firstly the antiviral software’s ability to detect all In-the-wild viruses during on-demand and on-access scanning; and secondly that the software doesn’t accidentally clean any files as infected files.

NOD32 actually boasts the highest success rate in the industry when taking the tests, 96% compared to many competitors’ scores around the 60-75% range.

The company says this down to its progressive technology, which analyzes executable code in real-time using an emulated environment. This allows it to distinguish safely between benign files and malware.

Anton Zajac, CEO of ESET, LLC said: “We’re pleased to learn that we detected 100% of viruses across the board, including in-the-wild, worms and bots, polymorphic, and file infector viruses. Forty nine VB100 awards is very impressive, and a testament to our advanced heuristics, research and development teams. As threats multiply exponentially in both numbers and sophistication, ESET will continue to stay one step ahead, protecting users from future threats before they emerge.”
