BK Gulf Facilities Management pledge its support for training and development.

To show its commitment to the development of the industry, BK Gulf Facilities Management has "put its money where its mouth is" and sponsored the Training/Development Award at this year's facilities management Middle East Awards.

"It is only right that one of the Middle East's high profile companies is shown to support this type of event and be an active part of the ongoing education of the benefits of facilities management services," said Tony Martin, head of facilities management, BK Gulf Facilities Management.

The company's dedication to training and development starts in-house with its staff. Martin added that by training and developing staff, companies would reap the benefits when delivering services to clients.

"This is evident through the client feedback we receive. Developing staff is another way of providing long-term investment in your business, it is a win, win situation. The company benefits from added skills and the employee wins through recognition and skill gain."

BK Gulf Facilities Management has been established in the Middle East since 1998 and provides the region with a range of facilities services. It is one of two specialist divisions, with the other focusing on fire systems (BCL Fire Systems).

On a more company wide level, it employs over 7,000 staff and Martin said: "BK Gulf LLC has carved out a position within the UAE market as a leading contractor in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and building services."

Its clients include Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai Civil Aviation, Nakheel, DEWA and National Bank of Dubai.

The company will be entering nine out of the 15 awards, in a bid to take one of the facilities management Middle East Awards home.

When asked what benefits the Awards would bring the industry, Martin added: "The awards will benefit the industry through its high profile and the names associated with it.

It will put the FM industry on the calendar and will become an opportunity FM companies in the future can't miss, of that I am certain. Potential clients will look at these awards to see who is involved and indeed setting a benchmark for the rest of the industry to follow.

This alone could play a big part in the awarding of future work."
