The caching error which was showing personal details of UAE YouTube users has been fixed.

In a statement to media Google acknowledged that the problem appeared to be a caching error at the ISP, although it declined to name Etisalat as the affected ISP. Etisalat has still not commented on the issue at the time of writing.

The statement from Google reads: "We have had reports of this problem in the UAE and believe it was due to caching being done by a local ISP. We take our users' security very seriously and have made necessary changes to resolve this issue. It should now be fixed, but if users see any more instances, we'd like for them to contact the YouTube support team at http://www.google.com/support/youtube."

The cache error was causing YouTube user details including personal profiles, favourites lists and messages to be displayed at random when trying to access YouTube accounts through Etisalat's internet service.

The issue was detected by the editorial team of itp.net sister publication, Windows Arabic, and had also been spotted by tech blogger Shijaz Abdulla. Abdulla also reported that his blog was mysteriously blocked after he had blogged about the YouTube problem.

over half the videos (randomly) are not loading properly for Etisalat users. They are probably trying to filter it but the blocking seems to be completely random unless mainstream news, educational videos and a home video of a UFO have suddenly become illegal in the UAE! See www.thevoiceofuae.org for people's comments. i found that on google today.
