by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Saturday, 03 May 2008
Mivan Depa has been awarded the fitout works contract for the Arcapita Bank Headquarters in Bahrain. It will be the first building to be erected in the Bahrain Bay Development complex.
The contract was awarded by Atkins and Nass, Murray and Roberts, and has a value of US $20.6 million (AED7.8 million). The project is due for completion by May 2009 and marks the company's entry into the Bahrain market.
Mivan Depa's scope of work will include the internal fitout of the basement, ground floor reception and five floors for offices.
"Thanks to our international experience and strong foundation in the local market, we have now extended our operations to include Bahrain," said Paul Austin, Mivan Depa's general manager.
Mivan Depa is a joint venture between Depa Limited, a provider of interior contracting services in the Middle East, and Mivan Limited of Northern Ireland, a specialist theming contractor.
Mivan Depa has recently handed over the gallery fitout works at the Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha. The project was designed by one of the world's top architects, I.M. PEI.
The company is currently doing fitout work on the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai, for the public areas and the nightclub. This project will be the flagship resort on The Palm Jumeirah.
