Nakheel, Jafza launch budget hotel brand

Dubai developer Nakheel and the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza) are breaking away from the emirates’ high-end hotel market with the launch of budget brand EasyHotel.

The companies have signed a deal to open several budget hotels under the brand, with the first 216-room hotel be located close to Sheikh Zayed Road in Jafza.

Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of May, with a completion date of June 2009. The hotel aims to offer a first class ‘sleep and shower’ experience, Nakheel said in a statement on Sunday.

Nakheel’s hotel arm owns the master franchise for EasyHotels in the Mena region. The EasyHotel in Jafza will be one of several of the budget hotels to be developed by Nakheel in Dubai.

Joe Sita, CEO of Nakheel Hotels, said the firm was introducing an innovative concept to Dubai and the region and “tapping into the burgeoning requirements for budget hotels in the Middle East”.

Dubai’s EasyHotels will be built to global environmental standards, using durable long lasting materials which are almost free of maintenance costs, Sita added.

Nakheel and Jafza are both subsidiaries of state-owned conglomerate Dubai World.
