IP communications vendor Avaya has set off on a six-stop Middle East and Africa partner tour in an effort to underline its rapid regional expansion and increase the applicable knowledge of its channel.

Touching down in Egypt first and then stopping off in other major markets including Turkey, the vendor says that it plans to train more than 240 partners. In addition to training sessions it will run to enhance the product know-how of its established partners, the company claims it will also be bringing its newly appointed partners up to speed with specific focus sessions.

"We are aggressively expanding our operations across the region to keep pace with the strong demand from customers," said Roger El Tawil, channel and marketing director for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey at Avaya.

"We invest significantly in the training of our business partners as it is crucial that they are in sync with Avaya's latest product offerings and market strategy. Not only does training give them a competitive advantage by helping them understand customer requirements and enabling them to leverage Avaya's communications technology to businesses across the region. We see this is one of the key differentiators that will allow us to crack new business opportunities and fuel our regional growth," added El Tawil.

Avaya has doubled its channel in the region over the past six months, with new partnerships in countries including Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Egypt. To emphasise the importance of educating and supporting its channel partners as it works hard to increase its channel breadth across the region, Avaya also revealed that last quarter it trained more than 100 of its business partners.
