Is Porsche just trying to confuse us with yet another Cayenne derivative, asks Noel Ebdon.

Porsche is a funny company. Their entire range consists of only four vehicles, the 911, Boxster, Cayman and Cayenne, and yet their model list is almost infinitely long.

In fact the company seems to consider the choice of a different gearbox as an entirely different model.

You can choose from twenty seven different 911s, eight different Boxsters and Caymans and five Cayennes.

Surely the Boxster is just a Cayman Cabriolet?

Whichever way you look at it, Porsche has always been good at bringing out model after model from what is essentially the same car and the latest release from their stable is no exception.

The new Cayenne GTS is basically a sportier, non-turbo charged Cayenne, which sits in between the current S and Turbo.

It shares the better looking, but more radical nose of the Turbo, without the inherent turbo lag and edgy performance that comes with the top-of-the-range car.
