Murphy/Jahn to design Jordan’s tallest towers
by James Boley on Sunday, 11 May 2008
Chicago-based architects Murphy/Jahn have been appointed by Dubai developer Limitless to design the tallest buildings in Jordan.
Limitless Towers, costing around US$300 million, will be more than 200m tall once complete. The towers mark the beginning of the urban development plan for Amman, the Jordanian capital.
The buildings, to be constructed in the Abdoun area of Amman, will be up to 60 storeys high. A glass-bottomed pool will link the two towers at the 40th floor, providing a birds' eye view of the city and, at ground level, a 1,000 square metre indoor plaza will house retail, entertainment and leisure facilities.
"Murphy/Jahn's proven track record in iconic and high-rise buildings, we can turn the project from a concept to a reality," said Bahaa Abouhatab, country manager for Limitless in Jordan.
The towers will also be Jordan's first ‘green' buildings, using water recycling and energy-saving systems. Groundbreaking begins in August 2008.
