Le Méridien Mina Seyahi spa to close

Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina will close its spa facility to make way for The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina Heavenly Spa offering when the two hotels combine to form a resort later this year.
With the Westin Heavenly Spa set to open this month, the spa will be catering to Westin as well as Le Méridien guests.
Manager of the Westin Heavenly Spa, Bobby Griffiths, is confident that the offering will impress both sets of guests.
"The spa is located on the second floor of the hotel and comprises of 11 treatment rooms, changing rooms and a gymnasium with a wet offering of a spa pool, a sauna and a steamroom.
"The gym has a balcony with sun loungers overlooking the beach," she said.
It has been separated into five female rooms and four male rooms with a waiting area between the two. There is also a couple's suite and a Vichy shower room which can be accessed by both the male and female rooms.
"The hotel and spa were both designed by Massimo Bertelli with Studitalia Decor LLC," said Griffiths.
The individuality of the Westin spa experience will come in the form of its signature treatments and levels of service, said Griffiths.
"Matthew Murdoch, from the Westin Arizona, has designed two signature treatments which he is teaching to Heavenly Spas across the globe," she said.
Rollerssage is being marketed as the next step for heated stone therapy. The client has a choice of four crystals: they pick two based on their healing properties to be heated and rolled across the body.
"The second is the Butterfly Effect and we will be the first people in the world to get it," Griffiths explained.
"It is a mixture of table Thai massage and deep tissue and sports massage, whereby the client gets onto the bed and has a full body massage, then the arms and legs are taken off the table to do the stretching. You then feel as light as a butterfly," she added.
The spa will have 18 staff from Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Thailand, Ireland, South Africa and Spain.
"They have had training from Westin and specialist training for the signature treatments as well as on our Comfort Zone products," Griffiths said.
The Heavenly Spa is looking to operate as a day spa as well as a resort spa, but it will only base decisions on outside promotions after gaging how much business will be generated internally.
"We only have 11 rooms which is not too many if you consider there are more than 500 rooms between the two hotels," said Griffiths.
