Distributech to front PC vendor’s retail thrust

PC and notebook maker DTK is hoping to make inroads into the UAE's vibrant consumer culture with the appointment of Distributech as its distribution partner for the emirates.

As part of a push to get onto more of the UAE's power retail shelves and develop its SMB reach, DTK has assigned Distributech sole rights for its entire product range and responsibility for the servicing and warranty satisfaction throughout the UAE.

"We are very hopeful that by the end of the year we will see DTK more often in the power retail outlets," said Samer Atassi, sales manager at DTK Computer Middle East. "This year we are focusing more on the SMB and on the retail market. We have certain products that fit into the power retailer market, so we need to focus our presence in this area."

"In the last few years Distributech was able to prove themselves as a distributor to reckon with," continued Atassi. "Their existing portfolio and DTK's products will give them the power to take this venture down a successful track."

Atassi is confident that there is room for DTK's range within the UAE's already bulging PC and notebook retail space. "The PC market, including the notebook market, is growing, as indicated by IDC and other sources, and is a very strong market and it will keep on growing."

The agreement, which has been in the works since late last year, forms part of the vendor's broader aims for the Middle East region which will, it reveals, also include the strengthening of its distribution channel in Saudi Arabia later this year.
