LG brings speedy Blu-ray drive to ME

LG has launched what it claims is the ‘world's fastest' Blu-ray drive in the Middle East.

According to LG, the Super-Multi Blue Blu-ray Disc Rewriter (BE06) boasts a read and write speed of 6x.

"The development of the fastest Blu-ray disc rewriter is another important milestone in the history of LG's product innovation," stated KW Kim, CEO and president of LG Electronics Middle East. "Our latest technological breakthrough caters to the needs of businesses across the globe that demand high-definition content recorded in the minimum time, without compromising on quality."

LG's new drive is said to record up to 50GB of information, which according to the firm is equivalent to nine hours of high-definition (HD) content or 23 hours of standard definition (SD) video.

The external version of the BE06 is priced at $500, while the internal drive is priced at $300.
