by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Wednesday, 14 May 2008

GE Healthcare has formed a joint venture with El Seif Development to help it more effectively cover the Saudi Arabian market.

GE El Seif Healthcare Arabia will market GE Healthcare's broad portfolio, which includes diagnostic and imaging equipment, patient monitoring and data systems and network storage systems and software.

"GE believes in strong regional partnerships such as the one we have with our valued partner El Seif Development Co.," said Richard Di Benedetto, president and CEO of GE Healthcare, international, EAGM region.

"Through this second exciting partnership with El Seif Development, we are moving further closer to our customers to address their specific needs by designing and developing innovative solutions that will be a true local fit."

GE Healthcare is currently emphasizing its ‘Early Health' strategy, which promotes early diagnosis of problems or potential problems through its advanced diagnostic tools. According to GE, the approach helps decrease overall medical costs and increases the range of treatment options available to patients.

GE has more than 180 professionals based in Saudi Arabia and has invested in a country service support center in Riyadh. GE El Seif Healthcare Arabia will be 51:49 per cent owned by GE and El Seif Development.

"GE Healthcare continues to play an integral role in transforming the healthcare landscape of the Middle East region," said Richard Di Benedetto. "The idea of investing today to avoid ever-increasing costs in the future is a powerful and inspiring opportunity.

"If we can redirect healthcare resources into developing better ways to predict, diagnose, treat and monitor disease while leveraging information technology throughout this continuum, we could have a much healthier population overall," he added.
