BAWC expands Middle East routes
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Monday, 12 May 2008
British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has launched its second Boeing 727 freighter route between Bahrain and Lahore to capitalise on growing demand for cargo services from customers in the Middle East and South Asia.
The additional service, which marks the expansion of BAWC's partnership with logistics powerhouse DHL, means the airline is offering two Bahrain-Lahore routings a week. It also maintains a single rotation between Bahrain and Karachi.
"The relationship with DHL, which began in June 2007, has proved extremely successful for both parties.
The expansion of these services shows our commitment to facilitating customers' access to strategic global markets," said Johnny Rubio, BAWC's commercial manager in the Middle East, Central Asia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
"We are confident that the key manufacturing hubs around Karachi and Lahore in particular will benefit from the expanded programme, which has been designed to ensure that our customers' freight is delivered across the globe in the most time efficient manner possible."
