Sony debuts smallest, lighest full HD camcorder

Sony has launched its new HDR-TG1 Handycam, which it says is the smallest, slimmest and lightest full definition camcorder available today.
The HDR-TG1 is encased in scratchproof titanium, and measures 32 x 119 x 63mm, weighs 240g, and is capable of 1920x1080 Full High Definition recording, with 5.1 surround sound
he camcorder features Sony face detection technology, which can identify up to eight individual faces in a shot and automatically adjust focus, exposure, colour control and flash control for best results, and also allocated more encoding bits to detected faces for better quality when focusing on faces.
The device also includes ClearVid CMOS Sensor and BIONZ image processing engine for high quality still and video, which also enables shooting of 4 megapixel images in normal mode and 2.3 megapixel images during HD filming.
With support for Memory Stick PRO Duo media, the camcorder is able to capture just under six hours of full high definition video on a single 16GB memory stick.
Osamu Miura, managing director, Sony Gulf FZE said: "Sony was the first to introduce a travel-sized camcorder with 8mm technology in the 1980's, and it revolutionized the travel and electronics industries. This new model is a great example of our expertise in miniaturization, as well as advanced imaging technologies with features like face detection."
Recommended retail price for the HDR-TG1 is AED 3,599 ($979).
