Portable hard drive maker Lacie is on the hunt for an in-country distributor to deliver its product range in Oman.

"Though we have a regional distributor, what we are looking at is having an in-country distributor that knows exactly the pulse of the Omani market and will do perfect justice to the brand," revealed Anil Nayak, regional sales manager at Lacie.

"Today we have in-country distributors in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. As far as we are concerned the only thing missing is Oman and this is what we want to work on," continued Nayak. "We are looking for one as soon as possible."

At the moment Lacie is employing the services of regional distributor Empa Middle East to tackle the Omani market, but feels that an in-country company will have better domain knowledge and will be able to more effectively represent the brand locally.

"In Oman as a market itself, we would like to introduce our design-attractive range of products. When you look at other product lines already in Oman, the consumers like aesthetically attractive products. There is a niche market there that wants to buy a lot of the design products," said Nayak.

In addition to promoting its consumer range of products in the Omani market the in-country distributor will be responsible for spreading the Lacie brand across the corporate and SMB sector. "In Oman there are a lot of corporate companies and they need a lot of storage. That is why I would look for an in-country distributor that handle both the consumer and corporate markets," said Nayak.
