Tabreed to cool off Marina West
by Rob Wagner on Saturday, 24 May 2008
Marina West has signed a contract with Tabreed Bahrain to provide cooling services for 11 towers in the Marina West development on Bahrain's west coast.
Tabreed Bahrain will provide 10,500 tonnes of refrigeration (TR) to the US $675 million beachfront residential project.
Details and value of the contract were not disclosed.
"‘We chose Tabreed Bahrain because it has a comprehensive track record in regional district cooling expertise," said Mahmood Janahi, managing director of Marina West.
The Tabreed plant is now being designed. The target completion date is 31 March 2010; testing and commissioning will start on 1 January 2010.
The development is Bahrain's first gated high-rise residential beachfront community with recreational and entertainment facilities, plus a retail centre.
It will comprise 11 residential towers ranging from 20 to 32 floors, encircling the 75,000m2 community.
The main contractor for Marina West is the UAE-based Al Hamad Construction and Development Company.
Tabreed Bahrain - Bahrain District Cooling - is a private sector joint venture company. The company provides cooling services throughout Bahrain.
