ARSHAD: GlobalStar is seeking Middle East recruits.

GlobalStar Travel Management is on the lookout for more Middle East travel agencies to join its fold.

The firm, which is a worldwide joint venture partnership of leading travel management companies (TMCs), is hoping to recruit "a small number of independent business travel agencies" to help expand its coverage in the Middle East region, explained Asim Arshad, CEO of Sharjah-based Orient Travel, which is the UAE representative for GlobalStar.

"We are looking for strong partners in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman," he added.

Arshad was speaking to ATN at GlobalStar's recent sixth annual conference, which took place at the Hyatt Regency in Dubai.

The conference theme was ‘reach for the stars' and included a section on ‘learning the lessons of Dubai', highlighting the success and growth witnessed by Dubai and how its members could apply those success factors to their businesses.

GlobalStar is headquartered in New Jersey, North America and aims to provide its clients with good quality travel management services using specialised technology solutions.

The organisation has 663 office locations, an annual turnover of US $4 billion and boasts $5 billion in purchasing power.

The company is organised into four main regions: North America; Latin America; EMEA; and the UK and Asia/Pacific.

Each region is supervised and managed by an experienced board of directors, representing the shareholding partners in the respective region.

Its regional boards work together on a global level to provide overall strategy and direction, but what makes its structure unique is its ‘Cascade Ownership Principle', which is based on a common strategy but leaves the decision-making power for all client-relevant issues at the agency level, where the client relationships are maintained and the services are provided.

The responsibilities of the global and regional entities are to provide full support to the service level, control the service quality on an international level and assure that all client needs are covered.

GlobalStar partners today serve many prestigious accounts of various sizes, providing them with local, national as well as consolidated international services. Besides the core network of shareholding partners, GlobalStar operates an affiliate programme, which allows qualified TMCs worldwide to participate in its programme.
