Dr. Lama Al-Sulaiman is the president of Khadijah bint Khuwalid Center for Businesswomen, part of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, a influential businesswomen's centre in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Al-Sulaiman made history in 2005 when she became one of the first Saudi women to win elected office in Saudi Arabia as board members of the Jeddah's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).

With some 21,000 members of the chamber entitled to vote, and with a choice of 71 candidates, Dr. al-Sulaiman and fellow businesswowman Nashwa Taher made history by winning the popular vote, and joined ten elected men on the board of the JCCI.

Dr. Al-Sulaiman also is recognised as a Young Arab Leader by the World Economic Forum, and is currently a director of Rolaco Trading and Contracting, the National Institute of Health Services, the National Home Health Care Foundation, and the Economic and Social Circle of the Mecca Region.

After earning her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Al-Sulaiman pursued her postgraduate degrees in Nutrition from King’s College (University of London) in London, UK, in which she first attained her M.Sc. and then her Ph.D.
