Position: Former CEO, Forsa, UAE
As the former CEO of Forsa, Shamsa Ali Noor Rashid was part of a company that has launched a fund catering to women investors and entrepreneurs that values USD 272 million. The fund was established in 2007 and has had a huge influence on female business women in the region.
Shamsa Ali Noor Rashid has over 25 years of experience in Western markets, having worked in the United States and the United Kingdom. She worked first with Proctor & Gamble, and then went on to establish and sell an IT company in California's Silicon Valley.
She is one of the first Emirati women to study abroad, and obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago before delving into the business world.
Recognizing that women in the region may find it difficult to have access to opportunities, Shamsa Ali Noor Rashid created the fund in the Spring of 2007 to give women a shove in the right direction. The purpose of the fund is to support women who want to start large-business enterprises, and find investors willing to support the plans. This is her way of giving back to her community.
