Crystalized Swarovski elements

Aimed predominantly at reigniting the wedding sector, Swarovski crystal innovations sparked the imaginations of many designers at a recent event held in Raffles hotel, Dubai. Amongst them included interior architect and designer, Pilar von Pilat, who designed a 3-meter pavilion specifically for the show.

"I think what's really nice is the different materials you can learn about with each individual project," said Pilar von Pilati, Pilati Interior Architecture and Designer.

"I had contact with Swarovski crystal before, but I suddenly had a closer relationship with the product. I got to know the material, how it worked, and tried combining it with others. Later you learn so much more about it - this is how you collect experiences," she added.

In its elegantly woven fabric piece, Jab Anstoez, fabric and carpet editor, demonstrated the application of hundreds of crystal on fabric.

"Fabrics are our core business - this piece at the show is our latest, and we are presenting it here, as it is stuck with Swarovski rhinestones. The fabric has a traditional touch due to the colour range (deep purples and green), yet it can be used as a contemporary piece also, as it's not a typical heavy colour selection," said Roger Niemeyer, general manager Middle East, Jab Anstoez.

Also present at the event, luxury interior designer Filippo Ceroni of Bagnaresi Casa brought glamour and Italian craftsmanship to the crystallized exhibition.

"Clean luxury, redundant and outstanding - this is what I enjoy - if you can make a simple table of steel and put a Swarovski encrusted ornament on it - it transforms the piece completely... we've also made a bed with the headboard full of Swarovski Crystals, the skill is to pass through many different ideas and then piece them all together...we want to customise everything," Ceroni concluded.
