Kohler brings art and technology to ISH Middle East
by Selin Arkut on Tuesday, 27 May 2008
Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Wisconsin, USA, Kohler, a kitchen and bath design and technology company, combined innovative digital technology and bathing with its launching of the DTV II at ISH Kitchen and Bathroom exhibition, held in Dubai this week.
Kohler product development experts collaborated with spa technicians to create several unique hydrotherapy experiences through the DTV II. The new showering concept offers the personalisation of water preferences, music, ambient lighting, and steam. An intuitive digital interface panel that can be installed inside and/or outside the showering space operates all of these preferences.
"With the DTV II, showering is not just about water anymore. This new product takes the shower to an unexpected and uncharted level of performance with an all-encompassing sensory and completely integrated experience," says Mostafa Ghanem, general manager, Kohler Middle East.
"The great thing about the DTV II is that it controls all of these elements at the touch of a button. The user-friendly digital control panel brings four elements together - water, sound, light and steam - to provide a perfectly tailored and choreographed showering experience," he added.
In addition to the DTV II, during the show Kohler was also showcasing its Fountainhead VibrAcoustic bath, designed to ease tension and stress.
Made from acrylic, it is available in two sizes - 88m x 48 x 24 inches and 72 x 42 x 26 inches, and sends rhythmic vibrations through the water in beat with the bathers music.
"The science of sound vibration, and the art of ergonomic design come together in this bath to provide an unprecedented level of relaxation," said Ghanem. "The four expert-designed sound and vibration experiences are intended to help the bather achieve consistent, slow, and deep breathing," he continued.
