Abu Dhabi-based Mediapro International showcased a sophisticated 360-degree screen projection during an Abu Dhabi Executive Council meeting held at Emirates Palace last month.

The 360 projection was the first of its kind to be featured in the UAE.

The display utilised 26 Sanyo XF47 projectors, which deliver 15000 ANSI lumens of brightness, 26 Dataton Watchout keys and machines and a 144m x 4.5m screen.

The projectors were combined and presented as one single screen that surrounded almost 650sqm of the palace's Ballroom walls.

Touch panels were used to control video animation and live video, which was displayed in PIP formats.

A Yamaha LX9 mixing console and Meyer UPJ speakers were featured in the surround sound system.

The ambient lighting and studio lighting consisted of various light fixtures, including 20 Robe 1200 moving heads and 10 Studio Due City Colors.

The technology was used during the launch of the electronic Executive Council by the Abu Dhabi Government to showcase its plans to improve the overall management and performance of its departments.

The e-council was opened by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

I think I've seen a 360-degree projection system before. Masdar at the Future Energy Summit in ADNEC last January had a seamless picture-in-a-round. While this scale was impressive, the techology is not new to the UAE.
