UAE mobile phones now with television

Subscribers to UAE telecom Du will now be able to watch television programs on their mobile phones as part of the company’s new mobile TV service which was launched on Tuesday.
For a fixed monthly fee of 80 dirhams ($22), customers will be able to access Western, Asian and Arab channels.
“Our unique new Mobile TV service offers customers the freedom to access 21 TV channels, stream videos, music and the popular Freej episodes anytime on their 3G mobile phones,” Osman Sultan, Du chief executive, said in a statement.
“To top it up, we have also introduced new TV channels as part of the package...to meet the demands of the Western, Asian and Arab subscribers."
Du said the service was available through multiple access plans, including a one-day package to all 21 channels (10 dirhams), pay per view video clips (5 dirhams), one channel monthly package (10 dirhams) or the entire channel selection for 80 dirhams per month.
Du, the UAE’s second telecom operator, was launched in February 2007. It is 40% owned by the UAE government.
