Etihad Crystal Cargo has signed up to Abu Dhabi Customs' ‘gold card' programme, which will allow the operator to receive automatic pre-clearance to process its customs transactions and gain 90-day rolling credit with the customs agency.
The programme is designed to provide faster clearance and increased security when dealing with imported shipments.
"The new gold card service from Abu Dhabi Customs will have a significant impact for us, providing effective and efficient customs clearance, whether it is for perishable or non-perishable products, such as aviation equipment, IT hardware or medical supplies," commented Etihad Crystal Cargo's vice-president, Des Vertannes.
The benefits of the programme include the electronic submission of customs clearance documentation, payment facilities for consignment and administration fees and electronic reconciliation and refunds.
Crystal Cargo will also be able to access online consignment clearance details as a result of an initiative that is a result of Abu Dhabi airport's modernisation programme, which is designed to streamline processes for airlines such as the UAE's flag-carrier.
"The new trade facilitation facility is a privileged service to reward compliant and well run businesses in Abu Dhabi with a fast, effective and efficient customs clearance service," announced Saeed al Muhairi, deputy director-general of Abu Dhabi Customs Administration.
