Security software vendor McAfee has refrained from elaborating on the reasons for the sudden departure of Middle East regional director Patrick Hayati.
Hayati has steered McAfee's Middle East operation for a number of years and oversaw the local rebranding of the company from Network Associates four years ago.
Although McAfee confirmed his departure, it is still not clear which party initiated the split.
"Patrick Hayati has left McAfee to pursue his career elsewhere," said a company spokesperson. "We wish him every success in the future."
The software firm is expected to mount a search for Hayati's successor soon, but in the meantime Middle East staff are understood to have been told that EMEA VP Jose Vasco will act as their immediate reporting line.
McAfee partners contacted by Channel Middle East said the vendor had not yet communicated Hayati's exit to the channel. "We have heard that he's left the company, but nothing has been confirmed to us officially," said one.
McAfee works through a two-tiered model in the Middle East. Its distribution network includes regional players Aptec, Mindware and Redington, and Sariya IT in Saudi Arabia.
