The UAE has launched a wide-ranging media communications strategy, in a bid to boost transparency and match international media standards, state news agency WAM reported late on Tuesday.

The government has released a ‘Media Communications Manual’ outlining communications policies and procedures and defining the responsibilities of communications' teams.

The manual is part of a plan to enable UAE ministries and federal authorities to enhance communications capabilities, WAM said.

The manual has been developed by a team of “prominent experts” and includes guidelines on all media related activities such as media inquiries, key messages, media briefings and press releases.

Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Al-Gergawi said the manual was designed to match best international practices and ensure optimum transparency and accuracy of information on government initiatives and policies.

“It will be an important reference for all government day-to-day media communications activities, leading to enhanced interaction between the government entities, the media and the public,” Al-Gergawi said.

”The strategy aims to fulfill the leadership's vision towards enhancing the government's communications competencies and positioning the UAE among the leading nations in government communications."
