Top honour for AUB student

A medical undergraduate from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, has been selected to front the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations.
Melhim Bou Alwan, a fourth-year medical student, will become president of the million-member strong association in October.
In a statement, Bou Alwan said he was extremely proud of the opportunity to represent Lebanon successfully on the international scene.
He said: "I will use every chance I have to shed light on public health matters that are of importance to the Lebanese population to push for more concrete and productive change."
During his one-year tenure, Bou Alwan will spend in year in Geneva networking with NGOs.
Commenting on the election, Fuad Ziyadeh, associate dean for academic affairs at AUB's Faculty of Medicine, said: "This is a proud moment for Lebanon...during these very trying times."
