Safety advocate’s numbers increase swell Dubai

Dubai-based construction safety group BuildSafe Dubai (BSD), now has 41 members who have signed up to its charter on industry HSE and employee welfare.
BSD is a group of Dubai construction industry participants, formed to promote and encourage safe construction working practices and procedures in Dubai, as well as to share safety experiences in the workplace to assist with the prevention of unnecessary incidents.
Grahame McCaig, the inaugural chairman of the group, said he was pleased with the progress achieved to date. "The diversity of our membership is most encouraging," he said.
"BuildSafe is not a contractor led initiative."
BSD was the brainchild of BovisLendLease (BLL) and followed a previous BLL initiative in New York City.
"The initial support that BLL have given to BSD is commendable and much appreciated," said McCaig.
BSD operates on the principle that, given the amount and volume of construction activity currently being undertaken in Dubai, valuable lessons could be learned from individual participants within the industry in terms of HSE practices and procedures. Web: www.buildsafedubai.com
